Fed-up Lauren Boebert throws Trump's own words back in his face

President Donald Trump is leaning hard on the House GOP to pass Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act reauthorization — but far-right Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was quick to remind Trump why she is a no, using the president's own words.

According to Newsweek, Trump posted to his Truth Social account on Wednesday, "Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune have been working to pass a clean extension of FISA Section 702, a Law that was passed many years ago by Congress to collect Intelligence on Foreigners and Noncitizens. When used properly, FISA is an effective tool to keep Americans safe. For these reasons, I have called for a clean 18-month extension, HOWEVER, the Critical and Common Sense Reforms that were made in the last Reauthorization of FISA must remain intact to protect the American People from abuses."

"Nobody understands this better than me, as I was a victim of the worst and most illegal abuse of FISA in our Nation’s History, by Radical Left Lunatics who lied to the FISA Court to spy on my 2016 Presidential Campaign in their attempt to RIG the Election in favor of Crooked Hillary Clinton," he falsely claimed, before a lengthy rant about why the legislation is critical to Trump's war in Iran.

However, Boebert reacted to the order by quote-posting another social media rant by Trump all the way back in 2020, when he was singing a completely different tune.

"If the FISA Bill is passed tonight on the House floor, I will quickly VETO it," wrote Trump at the time. "Our Country has just suffered through the greatest political crime in its history. The massive abuse of FISA was a big part of it!"

Boebert, normally a firm ally of Trump and his MAGA movement, has had several moments of discontent with the president in recent months. In particular, she was outraged after Trump vetoed ongoing funding for a critical rural water project in her district, which she claimed was retribution for her vote to release the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files.
