Cryptocurrency futures trading attracts countless investors with its high leverage and dual-directional profit potential. However, complex mechanisms—including margin requirements, leverage ratios, and liquidation prices—often discourage beginners. To simplify derivatives trading, MEXC innovatively introduced Event Futures (formerly Prediction Futures), stripping away traditional futures complexity and returning to the essence: predicting price direction.
1. What Are Event Futures?
1.1 Definition
Event Futures enable traders to predict specific cryptocurrency price movements. Each contract represents a directional forecast—either "bullish" or "bearish." Correct predictions generate yields; incorrect ones result in the loss of your contract investment.
1.2 Core Components
- Yield Amount: Potential profit from the contract
- Investment Amount: Your stake, representing the maximum potential loss
- Up: Prediction that the price index will rise by expiration
- Down: Prediction that the price index will fall by expiration
- Calculation Formula: Settlement Amount = Principal + Yield Amount; Yield Amount = Principal × Yield Rate
2. How to Trade Event Futures on MEXC
Log in to your MEXC account and navigate to the Event Futures trading page. Select your preferred trading pair (e.g., BTCUSDT), choose a contract expiration time (10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, etc.), enter your investment amount, select your price direction prediction, and click Confirm to execute the trade.
3. Event Futures FAQs
3.1 How Are Yields Calculated?
Correct Prediction: Upon expiration, you receive the settlement amount (Settlement Amount = Principal + Yield Amount; Yield Amount = Principal × Yield Rate)
Incorrect Prediction: Upon expiration, you receive no settlement, and your principal is lost, counting toward your daily loss limit
Tie Scenario: If the expiration price equals the strike price, you receive your principal back with no profit or loss
Settlement amounts are determined by your contract investment and the applicable yield rate at order submission.
Example:
With an 87% yield rate, investing 10 USDT to predict BTC price movement:
- Correct prediction: Receive 18.7 USDT (10 USDT principal + 8.7 USDT yield)
- Incorrect prediction: Lose 10 USDT principal
- Tie: Receive 10 USDT principal back, no gain or loss
Note: Yield Amount = Principal × Yield Rate
3.2 How Is the Yield Rate Determined?
Yield rates are calculated internally based on asset volatility and market risk, and may fluctuate. The rate is locked at the time of order placement and remains fixed for that specific transaction. Current up and down yield rates are displayed in the trading interface.
As illustrated below, with an 80% yield rate, investing 5 USDT yields a 9 USDT settlement (5 USDT principal + 4 USDT yield) if your prediction is correct.
3.3 What Are the Trading Limits?
- Daily Loss Limit: Maximum daily loss is capped at 10,000 USDT (including potential losses from active orders). The platform automatically enforces this limit, preventing orders that would exceed it. Invested amounts in open contracts count toward potential losses.
- Active Contract Limit: Maximum of 5 unexpired contracts at any given time
- Daily Transaction Limit: 100 trades per day
- Price Limits: Each contract is subject to price limits to mitigate financial risk. Applicable limits are displayed on the platform
MEXC reserves the right to adjust these limits at any time without prior notice. Such changes do not affect existing active contracts.
3.4 Can Contracts Be Closed Early?
No. Event Futures contracts cannot be terminated before expiration. Once submitted, trades remain active until the contract expires.
3.5 How Is Settlement Value Determined?
Settlement value is automatically determined by the underlying asset's price index at contract expiration.
3.6 How Are Contracts Settled?
All Event Futures contracts settle in USDT. Correct predictions result in USDT rewards credited directly to your futures account. Incorrect predictions result in the loss of your invested principal, which counts toward your daily loss limit.
3.7 Is API Trading Supported?
Event Futures do not currently support API trading.
