RippleX Warns XRP Ledger Node Operators Ahead Of Crucial Upgrade Deadline

TLDR

  • RippleX urges XRP Ledger node operators to upgrade to version 3.0.0 by Jan. 27.
  • Five critical amendments in XRP Ledger version 3.0.0 are set for activation soon.
  • Failure to upgrade may lead to amendment blocking, disrupting node operations.
  • Permissioned domains amendment to activate on February 4 for institutional use.

RippleX has issued an important reminder for XRP Ledger node operators and validators as a critical upgrade deadline approaches. In a tweet, RippleX informed the XRP Ledger community that a set of amendments is scheduled to activate on the mainnet on January 27, 2026. The organization urged all node operators to upgrade to version 3.0.0 of the XRP Ledger to prevent facing amendment blocking.

As the deadline nears, RippleX emphasized the necessity of updating to the latest version to ensure that the nodes remain compatible with the upgraded network. Any nodes running outdated software will not be able to process transactions, vote on future amendments, or fully participate in the consensus process, potentially disrupting the network’s operations.

Importance of the Version 3.0.0 Upgrade

The XRPL version 3.0.0 comes with a series of amendments that are critical for the smooth functioning of the network. Among these, five specific amendments are set to activate soon, including fixes related to token escrow, keylet fields, MPT delivered amounts, AMM clawback rounding, and price oracle order. These updates aim to improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of the XRP Ledger by addressing previously identified issues.

RippleX explained that these amendments are designed to eliminate errors and enhance the functionality of the XRP Ledger. For instance, the “fixTokenEscrowV1” amendment corrects an accounting error in multi-party trust (MPT) escrows, while the “fixPriceOracleOrder” amendment addresses issues with the order of asset pair data. The other amendments target rounding errors and missing metadata in specific transactions.

What Happens if Node Operators Don’t Upgrade?

RippleX warned that any node operators who fail to upgrade to version 3.0.0 risk being “amendment blocked.” This means that their nodes would no longer be able to understand and follow the updated rules of the XRP Ledger.

As a result, these nodes would be unable to validate transactions, participate in network consensus, or properly interpret ledger data. Amendment blocking ensures the integrity and security of the network by preventing outdated nodes from interfering with the processing of new transactions and data.

It is vital for all validators and node operators to upgrade before the deadline to avoid any disruptions to their operations. The RippleX reminder underscores the importance of keeping systems up to date and compliant with the latest network changes.

Permissioned Domains Amendment Set for February 4 Activation

In addition to the January 27 deadline, RippleX highlighted another key upgrade scheduled for activation on February 4, 2026. The “permissioned domains” amendment, also known as the XLS 80 amendment, is designed to provide a compliance framework for institutions using the XRP Ledger.

This feature will allow institutions to implement privacy controls and more stringent transaction validation for certain use cases, such as financial services and regulated environments.

According to data from XRPSCAN, the permissioned domains amendment has already achieved majority support and will be activated on February 4. This update will open new possibilities for institutions looking to leverage the XRP Ledger in compliance-heavy industries.

Final Reminder for Node Operators

RippleX’s alert serves as a final reminder for all XRP Ledger node operators to prepare for the upcoming upgrades. The organization has stressed that node operators who fail to upgrade will not be able to fully participate in the network once the amendments are activated. The urgency of this upgrade is clear, as any delay could result in severe disruptions to the operation of the XRP Ledger.

With only a few days remaining until the January 27 deadline, RippleX has emphasized the importance of ensuring all systems are running the latest software version to maintain full functionality and avoid issues.
