Trump's coalition in tatters as new poll shows huge Dem gains with key groups

President Donald Trump's winning cross-section of voters that got him back into office is already falling apart, according to a new poll released by Morning Consult on Monday, with several voting groups essential to his victory turning on him at a rapid pace.

This comes amid widespread public outrage over the war in Iran, abuses of power by federal immigration agents, and a swiftly weakening economy that is seeing a massive jobs slowdown at the same time as inflation is beginning to accelerate again.

The key results of the Morning Consult survey were broken down in a post to X by CJ Warmke, who works for the Democratic-aligned House Majority PAC.

For starters, Trump was propelled to victory by doing significantly better than last time with voters who make under $50,000 per year — but as Armke noted, these voters "have swung 7% toward Democrats, from dead even to D+7."

Also integral to Trump's win were voters without a college degree, who at the beginning of the cycle favored Republicans by 9 points. Now, they are evenly split.

But perhaps one of the most alarming figures for Trump is the rapid erosion of his advantage with male voters. Trump cleaned up with male voters in the last election, and in particular did well with younger men, a demographic that has in the past been winnable for Democrats. Now, however, that advantage has shrunk significantly.

"Dems are seeing a RISE in backing among men -- male RV's entered the cycle at R+11; they now sit at R+5," wrote Warmke.

This follows other reports indicating dissatisfaction among younger men with the MAGA movement.
